After a catastrophic site crash in January 2024, I ❤️ E-Poetry is back online!

History

I ❤️ E-Poetry is a scholarly blog that started in December 2011 with a blogging challenge for myself: to read an e-poem every day, and write a brief (initially 100 words, then 250 words, on average) post about it every day. And I did it for 500 days, not missing a day.
After completing Phase 1 (which was done on Tumblr), I ported it to Wordpress, enriched the metadata, and started Phase 2, in which I invited others to contribute to the blog, as writers, editors, and guest contributors. This allowed us to expand the resource to include hundreds more posts.
Phase 3 was powered by a grant from the Fundación Puertorriqueña de las Humanidades, which allowed me and my team of interns and graduate students to translate all the blog posts into Spanish.
After that, I allowed the project to become dormant. And sadly enough, it was the WPML (WP multilingual) plug in that broke the database and crashed the site.

I ❤️ E-Poetry is an encyclopedic resource on e-poetry based on a simple idea: when we read an e-poem closely with attention to its craft, taking into account its writing, author, interface, platform, artistic and literary traditions, we gain insight on the work. And so, we use our expertise and love of the genre to unpack some of the strategies used in a given e-poem, so our readers can better appreciate the work.

You will notice there are a ton of pages that help organize the site and offer different entry points to explore its resources. Some are based on publications, genres, platforms, technologies, and so on.
The posts are categorized by year of publication, author, language, and other metadata.
Please note that every entry exists as two posts-- one in English and one in Spanish-- and they won't be connected to each other (once burned, twice shy). So if you don't find the post in the right language, please search or seek the other post.

Right now the goal is to dedicate a little time to re-organizing this re-implementation to be a useful resource.
I will eventually seek to port the whole resource to be on a less fragile platform: perhaps a static site or a book.
And who knows? Maybe I'll do another blogging run... we'll see.
