In “RedRidinghood,” Donna Leishman retells the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Using Flash in a similar way to “Deviant” (previously reviewed here), Leishman offers a modern reading of the traditional tale, which acknowledges its indebtedness to Angela Carter (thanked in the credits as the person who initiated it all). In this interactive narrative, Red Riding Hood sets out on her way to her grandmother’s house. In the woods, she meets a boy-wolf who will eventually seduce her, but also experiences the forest itself before falling asleep and dreaming.

En “RedRidinghood,” Donna Leishman vuelve a contar la historia de Little Red Riding Hood. Usando Flash de forma similar a “Deviant” (revisado previamente aquí), Leishman ofrece una lectura moderna de la historia tradicional, que reconoce su deuda con Angela Carter (agradecida en los créditos como la persona que inició todo). En esta narrativa interactiva, Caperucita Roja se dirige hacia la casa de su abuela. En el bosque, se encuentra con un niño lobo que eventualmente la seducirá, pero también experimenta el bosque antes de quedarse dormida y soñar.

In “Deviant: The Possession of Christian Shaw,” Donna Leishman uses a series of animated images to tell the story of Christian Shaw, an almost eleven year old girl who lives in Balgarran. This is an exploratory piece that allows the user to experience Christian’s world.

Although there is some text, the piece is mostly non-verbal. The images change when the user chooses to hover over them and they show strange things happening. The world inhabited by Christian is filled both with terrible creatures that observe her from behind the barren trees or marvellous flora that changes in unexpected ways. Her experiences affect her perception.

En “Deviant: The Possession of Christian Shaw,” Donna Leishman usa una serie de imágenes animadas para contar la historia de Christian Shaw, una niña de casi once años que vive en Balgarran. Esta es una pieza exploratoria que permite al usuario experimentar el mundo de Christian.

Aunque hay algo de texto, la pieza es principalmente no verbal. Las imágenes cambian cuando el usuario decide pasar el cursor sobre ellas y muestran que cosas extrañas suceden. El mundo habitado por Christian está lleno tanto de terribles criaturas que la observan desde atrás de los árboles estériles como de una flora maravillosa que cambia de maneras inesperadas. Sus experiencias afectan su percepción.
