Open “Diagrams Series 6: 6.4 and 6.10” by Jim Rosenberg
For over 30 years, Jim Rosenberg has been exploring the poetic possibilities of language juxtaposition (to place side by side) and superposition (to place on top of something else) on the page and on screen. His diagram poems use visual algorithmic notation and overlayed text to break away from the singularity of thought promoted by traditional syntax and create multiplicity of thought in his readers. He is exploring the syntax of hypertext, which we might take for granted. For more details on his poetics and on the fascinating thought process behind it, I recommend this essay by Rosenberg.
As for the “Diagram Series 6” poems, I suggest you read them aloud and savour their rhythmical phrasings. The phrases are richly textured, in sound and meaning, and even though you may find yourself indefinitely deferring any overarching interpretations, you may like where it leads your thoughts to.
