These four works of conceptual verbal and visual art (shall we call it poetry?) are built on the same JavaScript code, which gives you 30 seconds to explore the lines on the left hand margin and then starts a 30 second textual stream of text that grows in size until it overwhelms the screen. Built on Google search results, I presume of both text and images, each work is thematically focused, perhaps as a result of the keywords used. A fascinating effect of the font and textual growth in “Semantic Disturbances” is that when the text starts tiny, it is this illegible, almost imperceptible paragraph stream that grows into readability. When it starts large, it grows to overwhelm the screen, expanding the window size to an alarming size and not crashing your browser, perhaps because it restarts every 30 seconds.
If this work about the growth of Google and the Web, is there a timer? Will it reset? Do we get to start over when it becomes too overwhelming?
